Multiple Sites - Widths

Different users have different browsers, screens, tastes and other reasons for wanting Web Sites size to particular widths. James Miller uses a screen size of 1280 x 1024 with a large monitor, as it is ideal for developing complicated programs, where a considerable amount of information must be displayed. Consequently, he finds a Web Site optimised for a width of 800 ideal. However, those without such an advanced machine, would find 800 too wide and might prefer 640 or 720. BodgeIt! allows the user to specify a several different widths; 640, 720, 800 and undefined. The program also allows you to put two or more sites up with different widths in different directories on the server. Simple links similar to those for Next and Previous on this page allow changing from one site to another. Methods are also available so that graphics can be reduced in size for narrower Web Sites. |
