Aggregation

The third group show the various ways data can be aggregated.
Aggregation is the process, where values from the records in the database, that correspond to a particular node, are totalled, averaged or processed. They are then stored along with other details of that node.
The drawing template files are daisyt2?.dyt.

Note that these notes have been derived from the notes supplied with the Daisy Tutorial and also include various exercises that you can try.
It is recommended that you print the file and use it for guidance, as you go through the example templates, that are used by the Daisy Tutorial.

C1 - Numeric Aggregation (daisyt21.dyt)
In this Daisy Chart, four numeric aggregations have been defined and calculated for each node.
They show the Total Prize Money Won, the Average Prize Money Won, the Largest Individual Prize Won and the Smallest Individual Prize Won. All are shown as histograms.
Note that sometimes the last two values are the same. This is because the Owner won only one race!
Ex. 19 - Changing the Aggregation
The aggregation is changed using the Aggregation Fields command in the Draw Chart dialog box.
Use the ? command button to find out more about choosing aggregation fields.
Ex. 20 - Viewing Nodes
Use the various Nodes commands in the View menu to view various selections of nodes. Note that all of the calculated values are shown.
In Full Versions of Daisy these selections can be saved on disc as comma-separated files, which can then be processed by such programs as Microsoft Access and Excel.

C2 - Date/Time Aggregation (daisyt22.dyt)
In this Daisy Chart, four date and time aggregation fields have been defined and calculated for each node.
They show the Earliest and Latest, Dates and Times. All are shown as histograms.
It should be noted, that some of the times entered into the Newmarket Tutorial are incorrect. Just click OK to pass and ignore the errors.
Note that the Date and Time Ranges can also be calculated and plotted.
