DaisyDuplicates and Summaries

Daisy Templates

Two of the most powerful features of Daisy are the abilities to find duplicate records in a database and to summarise the database.

D1 - Duplicate Jockeys\Trainers (daisyt31.dyt)
D2 - Prize Money Summary (daisy32.dyt)

Note that these notes have been derived from the notes supplied with the Daisy Tutorial and also include various exercises that you can try.

It is recommended that you print the file and use it for guidance, as you go through the example templates, that are used by the Daisy Tutorial.

See the other groups of templates for the Daisy Tutorial, Jockeys, Owners and Trainers, Mapping and Aggregation.

D1 - Duplicate Jockeys\Trainers (daisyt31.dyt)

In this Duplicate Daisy Chart, all Jockey\Trainer pairs, that have been successful more than once are shown.

The nodes in this Daisy Chart have been created by joining the Jockey and Trainer from each record together with a backslash, giving values such as L Dettori\L Cumani. These are then mapped as a single group. Because there is only one group, no links can be shown in Duplicate Daisy Charts.

This Daisy Chart can also be shown as a grid, by using the Nodes in Chart sub-command of Selected Nodes in the View menu.

Ex. 21 - Combining Fields

Look at the Draw Chart dialog box for this chart.

Note how the Combine All Mapping Fields into One box has been checked and how a Combine command button has appeared. See the effects of combining the fields and vice-versa.

Try adding the field Owner to the mapping fields and see the effect.

D2 - Prize Money Summary (daisy32.dyt)

In this Daisy Chart, the prize money is summarised for each day's racing.

As with the Duplicate Chart use the commands in the View menu to show the summary as a table.
