Daisy Analysis Financial Analysis - 40 Recommendations

Back

The Forty Recommendations were laid down by the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) in 1990 and revised in 1996.

It is strongly recommended that you download, print and read the Forty Recommendations.

Note that the membership of FATF includes all of the major financial centre countries of Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

The recommendations fall into three distinct groups :-

  • Legislation - Actions that Governments must take.

  • Methods - Organise your business, personnel and record-keeping, so that Money Laundering is minimised.

  • Systems - Impliment manual and computer systems that detect suspicious actions and transactions.

Note too that they also apply to non-bank financial institutions.

A few notes on specific recommendations :-

  • 10. Daisy can be used to analyse accounts to look for ficticious names and addresses.

Daisy can also draw maps of addresses, look for links in accounts and link to the Internet to check that names and addresses are what the client says they are!

  • 11. Daisy can automatically search the Internet for information on companies, institutions, foundations etc.

  • 12. Daisy Analysis and it's partner companies can provide the consultancy and resource in building the appropriate five year databases recommended.

  • 14. The system described in this Web Site has been designed to locate unusual large transactions and patterns or transactions.

  • 19. As with 12., we can provide the systems and consultancy required.

  • 21. The system described here, can track transactions to countries where legislation is not of the required FATF standard.

  • 22. Daisy can be used to identify such transfers and display them for checking.

  • 26. to 29. Many of the systems and actions described here can apply to Administrative Authorities.

Note that some of these recommendations need programs, others need consultancy and some need both. Daisy Analysis and its partners are in a strong position to provide this.
