Tomorrow's World
This is a non-exhaustive list of Do's :-
- Background - Use a simple light background for the web pages. It makes things so much easier to read.
- Boring Stuff - Publish this properly so that clients and customers can print it. It saves having to send our expensive copies of manuals and documentation, when it gets lost.
- Browsers - Try and make the site work as well as possible in Internet Explorer, Netscape and Firefox.
- Colour - Do use colour to brighten up a dull web site.
- Compress - Always compress graphics with something like Web Graphics Optimiser. This greatly speeds up the site.
- Fonts - Choose a font that is available by default on most computers.
- Graphics - Keep your graphics as simple as possible. Always compress them!
- Page Size - Try and keep the page size so that pages print well. Do this so that pages can double as printed literature.
- Responses - Always provide a means by which people can respond to your web site.
- Words - Choose your words with care.
But perhaps the biggest thing you should do is take responsibility for the whole site.
It should be your company or organisations bible and as up-to-date as possible.
