The Main E-Mail Dialog

E-Mail Dialog

All single E-Mails are sent from this dialog, which is called from the Send E-Mail button in the main Edit, Print Use Dialog.

Can I Change an E-Mail to a Fax or a Letter?

See Sending Faxes or Writing Letters for more details.

All messages have an interchangeable format. Just set the appropriate option in the Type frame.

How Can I E-Mail a Word Document?

This should be sent as an attachment. In the main E-Mail dialog shown above, you will notice that an attachment of c:\ecac\Adi100.hlp has been set, by the use of the Browse button (...).

How Can I E-Mail any File or Document?

Again use an attachment.

But make sure that the recipient has the correct program, so the file can be read.

How Do I Change the E-Mail Format?

You can do this from the E-Mail Format command in the Options menu or using the Format button on the Send E-Mail dialog shown above. The E-Mail Format dialog will be shown.

The Send a Blind E-Mail feature allows each E-Mail to be sent to your normal E-Mail system, so that you have a record there as well.

Servers sets up the E-Mail servers, whilst Signature sets up the E-Mail signature to be added to each E-Mail.

How Do I Change the E-Mail Signature?

Set the Signature using the Signature button in the E-Mail Format dialog.

E-Mail Signature

You can enter as much or as little signature, as you like.

How Do I Send an E-Mail?

From the main Edit, Print, Use Phone Book dialog, select the recipient of the E-Mail and then click the Send E-Mail button. The dialog above will be shown.

Enter the Subject and the Message, and select an Attachment if one is required.

Then click Send to send the E-Mail.

You can obtain a printed copy of the E-Mail using the Print command button.

How Do Revisions Work?

Every time you send an E-Mail, the revision number increases.

All are stored in the Previous Messages database and they can be reviewed and printed as necessary.

See Reviewing Previous Messages for more details.

How Is an E-Mail Delivered?

AddressWise delivers all the E-Mails it sends, through your normal E-Mail server.

Set the E-Mail server using the Servers button in the E-Mail Format dialog.

E-Mail Servers

Make sure these are the ones used by your Internet Service Provider. Those shown are for UUNET/Pipex in the United Kingdom.

What is an Attachment?

An Attachment is a file encoded in such a way, that it can passed as part of an E-Mail between two people.

Don't worry about the encoding, as this is done automatically, by AddressWise and all major E-Mail programs. All the receiver has to do, is usually double-click the file in the message and it will be opened.

Make sure that when you send a file such as a Word document, that the recipient has a version of Word capable of reading the document.

What is an E-Mail Signature?

Some people like to put a simple message at the bottom of their E-Mails containing such details as their E-Mail address, phone number, company, product details and even a mini-biography!

This is a signature.

What is the Best Format to E-Mail a Document?

Unless you are sure that the recipient has a program capable of reading the document correctly, Adobe Acrobat or .pdf format is best.

Beware that although you might use the latest version of say, Word, the recipient of the document, may not!
