All transfers can be limited in several ways :-
- Masks such as *.exe can be used to select some of the files in the source directory.
With FTP transfers up to six masks can be defined.
- Don't Copy Before Dates can be used to stop files before a certain date being processed.
If you are backing up a whole machine, this will stop most of the operating system being transferred.
- Certain directories can be marked, so that files are not processed.
- Cache directories can be defined, so that only changed files are processed.
This only applies to FTP and zip transfers.
Remember that the more you restrict the copying of unnecessary files, the smaller the backups will be and they can often be restricted so that they can be copied to a single CD-ROM.
