Choose your words with care! Your target audience, may not be as literate as you, will certainly not know your subject as well as you, and may not even speak English or your own language at all well. Don't use words or phrases, that are spelt differently or have contrasting meanings in English and American. Remember, though that English is much more liberal with its spelling and a lot of American forms such as visualize are in the Oxford English Dictionary, along with the English form. (Actually, visualize is given before visualise.) The one word you can't avoid is Colour. So live with it!
